miah: Mia Habis studied French literature, advertising and acting. Started dancing at a very early age and had enrolled in different dance workshops in Lebanon and abroad. She’s been practicing the Kali Sikaran Filipino martial art for several years. She’s been composing and singing for several years and released in 2008 an EP album called: catimini for which she performed several times. Her dance background is mainly in classical ballet and has worked for more than ten years with the “Beirut Dance Company’ as a main dancer and teacher . Item was her first choreography which took part of BIPOD 09- Beirut International Platform of Dance. She presented Permanant State of a Transitory Phase, a body installation for BIPOD/ The Arab Dance Platform 2011 She has been dancing and teaching with Maqamat since 2008, and is also currently working for the company as communication and marketing manager and coordinator of Leymoun-Arab Contemporary Dance Network “ Mia Habis, the dancer who unsettles the audience (…), conveys emotions with clarity and grace, captures futility with a tragic beauty.” Laura Wilkinson.
